Snow Redistribution

Modeling snow redistribution along land-use boundaries

Mt. Pleasant Snow Study SiteThe objective of this research is to differentiate snow redistribution patterns with respect to snow depth and winds along various land-use boundaries.

Initial project work has included the installation of snow depth pickets and a time-lapse camera near the weather observation station on Mt. Pleasant, Ithaca. Download a short movie (.wmv file, 5,786 Kb) to see inital snowfall, redistribution, and melt patterns from this site.
