I completed my BS in biological engineering at NC State in 2012, with an environmental focus. While there, I designed and studied an upflow filter for phosphate removal from stormwater. I also helped design several BMPs in urban systems, including a bioretention cell and stream restoration. My interests in biological nutrient remediation have brought me to Cornell, where I hope to pursue a better understanding of nitrogen removal.
My Current Research Projects and Interests
I am currently working on evaluation and better understanding of denitrifying bioreactors (DNBR) to remove excess nitrate from agricultural runoff. The objects are to monitor overall effectiveness as well as attempt to trace and measure specific processes within the DNBR.
